Remembering African Wild Dogs

by Wildlife Photographers United

Across Africa, these painted wolves (as they are also known) have historically been persecuted beyond measure, reduced from around 500,000 to roughly only 6,600 today. Their eradication has been intentional, often driven by fear and ignorance but also by simple human arrogance. Add to that the challenges of habitat loss and climate change, and the pressures they face seem almost insurmountable. With this book, our aim is to inspire a reappraisal of this beautiful creature and through its sale, we aim to raise funds for those working passionately to protect it. Together, we are determined to make a difference for the African wild dog, before time runs out and the last, haunting, hoo-call is lost forever.
